Veneers:
If your teeth are stained, broken, or shaped in a way that is not pleasing to you, then you
may want to consider procelain, laminate veneers to change your smile. Veneers are very thin
coverings that are custom made for your teeth. They can make uneven teeth even, make stained
teeth appear white, and fill in gaps between teeth. Veneers are extremely strong and durable,
and generally they will not be replaced for 5 to 10 years.

If you decide that you would like to develop a more pleasing smile with veneers we proceed as
follows. We do a smile design using a digital camera to capture images of your teeth and your
smile. From this we can determine the proper length and width of the teeth that would suit
your smile. This information will be transferred to study models of your teeth to develop a
3-dimensional look before any treatment is performed.
After consulting with you regarding all the information gathered, you can arrange an appointment
that will last approximately 1 hour. During this appointment, your teeth will be prepared for
the application of veneers by the removal of a very thin layer of enamel. A mold is taken of
your teeth in order for the laboratory to fabricate your custom veneers. You will leave the
office with temporary veneers to protect your teeth for an 8 to 10 day period. There may be
a slight sensitivity to hot and cold during the first week. Your final veneers will be placed
after approximately 8 to 10 days.
DO VENEERS NEED SPECIAL CARE?
You can treat your veneers as if they were your natural teeth. They need to be brushed daily,
as well as flosssed. You should not bite on any hard objects such as bones and pens. Nail
biting is also strongly discouraged.
